General Rules:

1. Always use good form. A good controlled set will recruit more muscle fibers verses throwing the weight around.

2. Do 1 set with a lighter weight. Then increase the weight for the next set and then increase the weight for the next set. If you can complete 10-12 with proper form then increase the weight by 5-10 lbs.

3. Lower the weight in a controlled motion. To many people forget about the negative portion (lowering) as this is just as important as the lifting.
